The Story Behind the Art
The Bark Animals are created in the studio and in the field by photographing different tree species through hand-cut paper stencils. Each one found through intuition, and is inspired by this quote by Naturalist John Muir, "When we try to pick out anything by itself, we find it hitched to everything else in the Universe."
